The earth's atmosphere scatters blue light, thus the sky appears blue during the day. Some of the blue color in the sun's light is filtered by the atmosphere and therefore the sun looks yellowish. At sunrise and sunset there is even more atmosphere filtering the light and the sun looks orange and even red.
