LA Shag, also known as the Los Angeles Style Shag, is a style of swing dancing that originated in the 1930s and 1940s in California.  It is a variation of the original shag dance that was popular in the Carolinas in the 1920s.  LA Shag is characterized by its smooth and fluid movements, with dancers moving in and out of closed and open positions.  It is danced to swing music, with a strong emphasis on the upbeat rhythm. The basic footwork involves a triple step followed by two quick steps, and there is a lot of room for improvisation and personal style.  LA Shag has experienced a resurgence in popularity in recent years, with many swing dance communities offering classes and social dances dedicated to this style.  It is a fun and energetic dance that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels.    Team partnerships - from first line formed (left to right):  Audrey Bui & Damon Donnelly  Kendall Roderick & Hunter Krikac  Karine Hermes & Steve Sayer  Melissa Paltin & Christopher Fessenden  Pam Sosa & Reuben Sosa    Team Spotlights:  Kim Clever & Dave Frutos  Deb Carter & Shawn Carter  Chanzie Roettig & Minn Vo    Song Credit: "Whirlwind Stomp" from Corey Gemme and his Rolling Figs Orchestra.
