Zapata Racing is the manufacturer of the "Flyboard," a jet platform tethered to a jet ski that lifts the rider 9 meters (29.5 ft) into the air on a jet of water.  With their latest innovation, tethering is apparently no longer necessary.  The current prototype can hover for a maximum of 10 minutes and is supposed to be able to reach a speed of up to 90 mph (150 km/h).  Flight testing is done over water, where an engine failure would not end in disaster.
