Evian Babies & "The Rollerskate Song" by Melanie
If you enjoyed the original 'Evian Babies', you may have fun watching them perform to "The Rollerskate Song" by folk singer Melanie.
"Brand New Key" (also known as "The Rollerskate
Song") is a pop song written by folk singer Melanie
Safka in 1971. It is about a girl with roller skates
trying to attract the attention of a boy. The roller
skates would have been quad skates, which were
clamped to the soles of ordinary shoes using a
special "key", which was often lost or misplaced. It
was Melanie's biggest hit, reaching Number 1 on the
Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in December 1971.
