The '68 Comeback Special was a televised concert by Elvis Presley which aired by NBC on December 3, 1968. It marked Presley's return to live performance after seven years during which time his career was centered on the film industry. Initially planned as a Christmas special by the network and Presley's manager, Colonel Tom Parker, producer Bob Finkel transformed the idea. He hired director Steve Binder to create a concert that would be current and appeal to a younger audience.    Viewer comment: "After seeing the 2022 Elvis movie, I realized how much they nailed this scene."   Shattered by the recent death of MLK, Elvis chose to close out his 68' comeback special with this poignantly titled original song 'If I Can Dream'
