This multicopter uses eight 11.5 horsepower twin-cylinder Turnigy TR-111 engines available at R/C hobby shops for $385 each. The total material cost of the project is below $5,000.  While this project is still under development, it demonstrates that affordable, safe (and perhaps battery powered) personal flying machines can become a reality in the near future.
