The Magic Flute is an opera in two acts composed in 1791 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.  Synopsis: The Queen of the Night encourages the young Prince Tamino to free her daughter Pamina from the power of Sarastro.  Tamino, who has fallen in love with Pamina's portrait, complies but finds Sarastro a man of admirable wisdom and mildness.  Tamino becomes Sarastro's disciple and is initiated into his mysteries, temporarily parting the lovers.  The Queen plots with Sarastro's servant to overthrow him but fails.  In the end, the prince and the princess are united.
