ABBA are a Swedish pop group formed in Stockholm in 1972 by Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad.  The group's name is an acronym of the first letters of their first names.  The title and lyrics of their first single "Waterloo" reference the 1815 Battle of Waterloo, and use it as a metaphor for a romantic relationship.  The song was the winning entry for Sweden in the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest.  It began ABBA's path to worldwide fame.
