The Tesla Roadster is a sports car faster than a
Porsche or a
Ferrari. It
goes 0-60 mph in less than 4 seconds. Designed in Silicon Valley and made by
Lotus in the UK, it runs entirely on electricity and is able to travel 250 miles
(400 km) on a single charge of its lithium ion batteries. The Roadster's
efficiency is reported as 133 Wh/km or equivalent to 135 mpg (57 km/l, or 1.74
l/100 km).
Over two hundred of the initial flagship 2007 cars sold out in under four
months. Tesla Motors is currently accepting reservation orders for their 2008
models. Price: US$92,000
