This ship is the Voyager, a fairly small cruise ship with 480 passengers. It was originally designed for speed, more than stability, and with a shallow draft for cruises up the Amazon River. It was sailing from Tunis to Barcelona when it got into storm near Mallorca in the Mediterranean Sea. The captain of this cruise ship, owned by a second-rate cruise line, ignored weather warnings and did not use the speed advantage of his ship to outrun the storm. A 30 ft. wave smashed a bridge window, knocking out the control systems.
The moral of the story: Book your cruise with a competent cruise line!
