The Bicycle Animation
Sponsored link:

Animation created in real time with a bicycle and a video camera.   To the naked eye, the intricate paper patterns attached to the bike wheels look like a blur when in motion. But when filmed with a video camera, the limited frame rate of the camera reveals these complex animations.

Essentially, a bike wheel is turned into a "Zoetrope". Instead of looking through a thin slit to reveal the animation, you need to look through a video camera with an electronic shutter. Designed and produced by Katy Beveridge. Soundtrack by Stefan Neidermeyer, who remixed the various bike noises recorded during the filming.
