World's Record Flying Fish

A Japanese TV crew filmed a flying fish off the coast of Yakushima Island, Japan on May 2008. The animal spent 45 seconds in flight. The fish was able to stay aloft by occasionally beating the surface of the water with its tail fin. The previous record was 42 seconds.
