The drones soared about 260 metres above Xi’an’s city wall, programmed to create a hovering display that measured 1,200 metres in length and 100 metres deep.  The display included the number of drones “1374” and the date “5.1”.   The city of Xi'an is often called the birthplace of Chinese civilization.  Once known as Chang’an (Eternal Peace), it marks the Silk Road’s eastern end and was home to the Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang dynasties' ruling houses.  At archaeological sites in Xi’an’s surrounding plains are the famed Bingmayong (Terra Cotta Army), thousands of life-size, hand-molded figures buried with China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang.
